Agricultural Security Area Advisory Committee
Public Meetings
No regular meetings. This committee serves at the request of the Penn Township Commissioners.
Board Composition
The Penn Township Agricultural Security Area Advisory Committee is composed of five members: three active township farmers, one citizen, and one township commissioner.
Duties
This committee reviews petitions that are submitted to modify land in the township's agricultural security area. Reviews are conducted during a public hearing at which individuals wishing to modify the current agricultural security area may submit proposed modifications, such as the inclusion of new properties.
Agricultural security areas are a tool for strengthening and protecting agriculture in Pennsylvania. Working together, farm land owners establish these areas, in which agriculture is the primary activity. Participating farmers are entitled to special consideration from local and state government agencies, thus encouraging the continuing use of the land for productive agricultural purposes.
